i'm rcmisk, self-taught engineer out of boston with a finance background. by day i build real-time data systems at scale, work i genuinely love. the off hours are where i build the things i want to exist, and i document exactly how, so you don't have to quit a job you like to start.

i didn't come up through CS. i started in finance out of boston, market analysis and fixed income, and taught myself to build on the side. i worked my way into engineering the hard way, which is probably why i still treat every skill as something you can just go acquire.
a college social network. i spent a year building it and roughly zero days telling anyone it existed. it died with no users. that failure is the foundation of everything i do now: distribution isn't a phase after building. it IS the building.
by day i build the systems that move marketing at scale. it went from python and flask, to php, react and sql on tools sending 100 million emails a day, to java and apache spark: a scheduler pushing 20 million notifications daily, a personalization engine, batch and streaming pipelines i moved onto google cloud with bigquery, dataproc and airflow. right now i'm building a real-time data processing application used in-house by marketers and engineers. i genuinely love this work and the people i do it with, and i learn a ton from it. the itch to build my own thing runs alongside it, not against it.
vibedraft and ideaverify are live. behind them is the more interesting build: a claude code workspace of agents doing my founder chores, analysis, idea validation, signal monitoring, content generation, posting, so a solo founder with a full-time job can operate like a team.
i want to build something from scratch and grow it into a real business, out in the open, numbers and all. not to replace a job i love, but because making something that's mine, and seeing if i can, is its own reason. the numbers are currently unimpressive and deliberately public, because the honest record of getting there is the whole point.
training for a november half marathon (PR ~1:45, chasing it). gym monday through thursday, soccer tuesday nights. always practicing guitar, always half-decent.
the real hobby: finding under-the-radar talent, music, stand-up, visual art, indie film, before anyone else does. ask me what i'm listening to.
