ABOUT

i build the things i want, and share them

i'm rcmisk, self-taught engineer out of boston, finance background, day job in big data. the 9-5 pays the bills; the off hours are where i build the things i actually want to exist, and i document exactly how, so you don't have to quit your job to start.

THE JOURNEY
THE START
finance degree, self-taught code

i didn't come up through CS. i came from finance, taught myself to build, and worked my way into engineering the hard way, which is probably why i still treat every skill as something you can just go acquire.

FIRST STARTUP
studentgrounds, dead on arrival

a college social network. i spent a year building it and roughly zero days telling anyone it existed. it died with no users. that failure is the foundation of everything i do now: distribution isn't a phase after building. it IS the building.

THE 9-5
the day job that funds it

professionally i build real-time marketing data platforms, java, spark, batch and streaming pipelines on GCP. i'm not trying to escape it tomorrow; it funds the mission and sharpens the skills. it does cap my hours, which forces the real discipline: protect the off hours, and make agents do everything that doesn't need me.

NOW
products + an agentic founder OS

vibedraft and ideaverify are live. behind them is the more interesting build: a claude code workspace of agents doing my founder chores, analysis, idea validation, signal monitoring, content generation, posting, so a solo founder with a day job can operate like a team.

THE GOAL
financial freedom, in public

FIRE through indie hacking. recurring revenue over salary, ownership over hours. i publish the real numbers along the way, currently unimpressive, deliberately public, because the record of getting there is the whole point.

THE STACK
day jobjava · spark · gcp, dataproc, bigquery, cloud storage · batch + streaming
after hourspython · next.js · supabase · vercel · hetzner
agentsclaude code · orchestrator sessions · skills + subagents · cron heartbeats
philosophypayment = validation. distribution first, always.
OFF THE CLOCK

training for a november half marathon (PR ~1:45, chasing it). gym monday through thursday, soccer tuesday nights. always practicing guitar, always half-decent.

the real hobby: finding under-the-radar talent, music, stand-up, visual art, indie film, before anyone else does. ask me what i'm listening to.

follow the whole experiment
one letter a week, what shipped, what the numbers did, what i'd do differently.
